Adam Returns is the third book of the series and continues the saga into the next generation. The children of the protagonists in the first two books are the central characters, now coming of age in a world very different from the one they should have inherited. Three thousand years of stability and tradition have come to an end. In the course of these characters getting on with life in a dramatically changed world, the third book develops further insights into how today’s religious fundamentalism caused our current world to devolve into the one presented in the series, with a few twists and surprises. Our protagonists must find answers to one of mankind’s greatest quandaries: once human discovery and ingenuity have created something terrible, how do you get it back into Pandora’s Box? Because once it exists, mankind will use it for self destruction. The mere capability will find its own excuse, always for the best and noblest of causes. |
