Spirits In The Stone is a prequel to the first three books. More than three thousand years of stories, epic events, communal histories, and the personal joys and sorrows of individual lives and generations of whole families were recorded in the thousands upon thousands of carvings and mosaics found throughout the Jade City. The lamplights captured in the jade brought the carvings to life. They were three dimensional and carved in extraordinary detail. The steady flicker of the lamp flames, or the movement of one’s head to one side or the other, gave the illusion that the figures in the carvings were alive and moving. What at first is fascinating and spellbinding now causes one to shudder and turn away. Spirits In The Stone is the long forgotten story of the malevolent powers awakened deep within the mountain that the people of the time had to understand and come to terms with. |
